I heard on a different site that I can transform my Primestar receiver to an FTA. I got it at a garage sale, I got an 18" directv phase 1 dish with it. I am trying to see if it will get a signal. Should the dish be aimed at Directv 101.0W? And which port should I connect the dish to, H or V?

Primestar used DCI coding (Digicipher I). Last I checked there is nothing up there in DC I.

Also the 18" dish and LNB would be wrong type for FTA. The P* receiver is pretty much a doorstop

Primestar receivers have a very nice ferrite ring on the power supply cable inside. I buggered that before dumping the box I had.
