The Boilermaker State (#19)
Last week we had some high winds and on Friday night I went to tune into the GCI channels on AMC7-3760-25190-Horizontal and received no signal. I figured the wind had knocked me a bit out of line, which it has before. This morning I went out to make an adjustment and to my suprise I couldn't get any kind of signal for GCI. Usually all I have to do is touch it and it comes back with no problem. Everything was fine until the Anchorage networks went clear during the summer and then they started to lost signal strength. Since they have returned to being scrambled the signal has been very weak and now it is gone. Is anyone else having trouble with these channels? If not, please let me know the signal strength and what size dish and kind of reciever you are getting them on.

Saturday night I couldnt get them stable either......33-34 on the GeosatPro (40 is threshold)

Luken mux was nice and strong (70/71)..verified those on Micro

So there is a good possibility that this is not my problem? Since I can't get Luken on the AZ Box Prem Plus I don't really know if I am on AMC7 or not. I don't think so. I did a scan and got 529 radio channels on the vertical side. I am pretty sure I was on AMC8 since there is no radio or verticals on AMC7, right?

Jim, just now saw your message. If it were any help, right now I only have those network channels and the GCI channels scanned in on my Vantage box ( I flushed it out over the weekend and havent' scanned in the luken stuff yet). Right now, 945pm they are all reading the same for me. 89 signal, 85 quality. Of course the networks are black channels, the first of the GCI is black, 2nd one has some infomercial going, and the 3rd one has vertical color bars and it is showing HD on the info screen. I don't recall any of those channels being HD before, maybe they are making some changes. Here's what the info screen says on the last GCI : H.264, video 1920x 1088, 16.9 aspect, frame rate 29970, scan type:interlaced, bit rate 60,000 dolby digital audio with apid of 47, but I dont' think that apid is right since the Vantage is notorious for not finding dolby pids and I am not getting any tone.
The next hockey game might be a little better on the eyes, haha.
edit: forgot to say, Ihaven't rescanned , the gci channels are still same freq/symbol rate I had stored in the box. For me I think they are running at about the same signal level as in the recent past, maybe earlier today they had them down for awhile and you timed it just right to look for 'em.

Turbo, is that 29970 a new SR? I am kind of confused on what is going on here.

Blindowl, that is the signal strength I had when we lived in town. There was an 8th foot wooden fence and tall tress about 2 lots over and the channels came in fine. Now that we are in the country there is nothing to block AMC7. The only trees are about an 1/8 of a mile away and the signal has gotten worse on a regular basis since we came out here three years ago. I ceberg is having troubles up in Minnesota also, so I don't thinl it's my problem.

Jim , that figure is a "frame rate" that displays on the info screen on the Vantage. I have no idea what it means, but its not the same as symbol rate. I just threw all that info out to you in case you understood it better'n me.

I'm watching 360 North right now 3760, H, 25190 Have the GCI channels too. All are just above threshold for me. Luken is real strong for me.

All is not clear> I can't get those channels to scan in tonight, after dumping all channels/transponders . Doing my weekly clean out, and now I'm having problems scanning in those channels also. And the luken stuff scans in, but won't store! I don't know what's going on with that bird! Working on it though.

Finally got back to figuring this out. Whether is the changes made to tps or brain-lock of my Vantage 1100, it will not scan in the channels for RTV/Tuff on 137W. Enter the tp info manually and scan, it works fine. One mystery erased, I was afraid the western trees had grown up partially blocking 137 for me again!
