I am new to this thread and FTA satellite in general. I have been googling to research where my satellite is for the channels I want. It is suppose to be on Galaxy 25 @ 97w. But information tells me that G25 has been replaced with G19 which is also suppose to be @ 97w. I am a bit confused .
Assuming that IT IS 97w, where would I find the aiming information?
I live in San Jose, California. I would appreciate your advice. hank You

for aiming try www.dishpointer.com . for tv/radio stations info try www.lyngsat.com or The List right on this forum.

Satellites have a lifespan of aprox 12 to 15 years therefore they get replaced by new ones hence the new Galaxy 19 name for the same 97W orbital position.

It sure would be a lot easier for the new folks if people spoke in terms of where the satellite is located. (Would have saved me a lot of grief when I first started.)

I have one fixed dish pointed at 97 West and the other at 101 West. (Now there is little doubt at what I speak of.)

Thanks for listening to me rant.

satellites get renamed and replaced

In your receivers menu there should be a satellite that (depending on the receiver) will say one of the following
Telstar 5
Galaxy 25
IntelSat Americas 5
Galaxy 19
T5
IA5

as long as it says "97.0W" thats the satellite you want :)
