BJU Homesat just got shifted by Intelsat from Galaxy 25 to Galaxy 26 with very short notice (only 1 week).

Does anyone know if there are hardware issues with Galaxy 25? I thought the replacement was not going to be launched until March 2008.

Wild guess... perhaps they are shutting down transponders to save power? Is the sat in trouble?

Anyone have any insight?

The BJ HomeSat Network has just been informed by our satellite service provider that our signal is being moved to a neighboring satellite. Unfortunately, this is beyond our control and will mean that every customer's dish will need to be repointed at the new satellite in order to continue receiving our signal.

It looks like their service provider moved satellites, could be due to many reasons, maybe a better price?

I don't think 97 degrees west is any more trouble than it already was.

EDIT -

BJU Homesat just got shifted by Intelsat from Galaxy 25 to Galaxy 26 with very short notice (only 1 week).

They have not moved yet.

The changes need to be made immediately and must be completed by SATURDAY, SEPTEMBER 22, 2007. During the transition, signal will be available on both satellites, but once the changeover is complete, you will no longer be able to receive signal from the current satellite.

My most recent scan of 93 Degrees West shows that they are up linked:

Frequency: 11997 MHZ
Polarity: V
Symbol Rate: 7234

(These channels are scrambled and are only available if you subscribe to them)

The transponder has been sold to another uplink service and the BJU Homesat was relocated. The Galaxy25 BJU Homesat signals are scheduled to go dark this next weekend.

Galaxy 29 was set for launch in late december by Sea Launch using Zenit 3 Rocket. Sea Launch's last launch was a failure and they are attempting another launch in Mid October. If that launch goes as planned and is sucessful that will determine when Galaxy 29 and Echostar 11 gets launched. Sea Launch's failure and the recent Proton failure will set back the launch dates of quite a few satellites that are waiting.
