Now that I'm a Satwork 3618, Galaxy 10R newbie, I can ask new newbie questions. :)

I grabbed the LyngSat chart, and I can get every FTA TV channel it lists. But when it comes to radio, I get KEXP and a couple of Korean stations, but I can't find any radio stations in the Equity block at 11799V. (LyngSat lists them as The New Hot 96.5, KDRE-FM, The Razor, and KLEC.)

I've had the 3618 scan the Equity block twice, and all it got me was duplicates of the TV stations there. :( Are the radio stations still there? Do I need to do something different to get them?

yes they are there

I know on the Pansat, they are the 2nd audio of
WBIF
KTVC
WMQF
KYPX

otherwise, you might be able to enter the pid in manually. I did that on the Pansat to have it logged in the radio list

Lazer rocks!! Good old 80's hairbands :):)

I hadn't noticed those. Looks like, er, sounds like Lazer is really on KQUP instead of KTVC.

I'm not at home, so I was going off of memory :)

On the Viacast, its channels 1,3,4 & 6
So whatever channels they register on Lyngsat as (under 11799), thats what ones they are :)

razpr rocks!!!!

KKZR is great radio station on galaxy 10R if you are into hair bands and new rock. I listen all the time however i noticed that they do not give very much bandwidth to the audio stream for this station. I connected my audio spectrum analyzer to the output of my pansat 2500a and it looks like the frequency response for this station only runs from around 60hz to 12khz. And it drops off dramatically below 60 or above 12k. A real bummer. but sound is tolerable. I am assuming that since the fm analog spectrum only responds from around 40hz to 15khz (and i think this is the absolute maximum), that their infrastructure probably does not support anything with more definition.

I wandered why the radio station uplink anyway? is it because they are using satellite to link between the studio and the remotely located terrestrial transmitter tower or maybe some local arkansas cable services carry the station as part of a bouquet of radio stations that you can enjoy on all of your tv's as part of a cable service?

Hey Carload,
Before my satworks 3618 would recieve any of those radio stations i had to manually enter in the apid. They scanned in as scrambled channels, but for some reason the apid did not scan in. After manually editing each of the channels they all worked.

Yup, once I entered the PIDs a couple of months ago, I got the stations working. Thanks.

I do share truckracer's curiousity about why they bother to uplink the radio stations in the first place.
