I have searched the forum unable to find a straight answer on this one:

Are you able to use an old DSS LNB on an FTA setup? Why or Why not?

yes you can use a Directv lnb but you will only get the free DBS channels,. like the barker channels

You need a KU band LNB for most FTA :)

So let me get this right, even if its rhetorical...

I can use a PANSAT 2500A with old DTV DSS lnb and recieve the free DBS feeds?

And also, I don't see anywhere in PANSAT to change polarization to L & R? It always lists as H & V?

H=Left hand
V=Right hand

No DBS feeds just the odd channels here and there ITC, In The Clear. Like "Nasa", and my favorite "Gol TV".

Any other setting changes in PANSAT than L.O. to 11250?

No, have fun!

Just remember to scan for FTA channels only or you will waste a LOAD of time!

Two sats of most intestest to me are.
110 W dish Network has Gol and a channel that show six channels at once. Hard to watch but you can get your MTV!

119W Dish Network. http://www.lyngsat.com/echo7.html Tons of free music 70 + channesl

91 W Bell Express view http://www.lyngsat.com/nimiq1.html CBC radio and some AM and FM radio stations.

So why you ask? Not sure why it free but it is. On the teck side both Dish Network and Bell use the same kind of LNBs and dishs from the same vendors. DTV also does but does not offer as much and you need a PCI computer card to get it.

Do a search in this forum for DTV or 18" dish. Some ideas on how to get two sats using one 18" dish.

Have fun!
