I believe I was reading in the Gbox manual, that if I were to hook up a Gbox to my Coolsat 6000, I could use the Coolsat to actually move the dish - send the signal through coax to the Gbox.

My question is, can I do the same with my old analog receiver? Or do I just have to use the remote on the old receiver, tune to the satellite I want then pull up the guide on the Coolsat. Thanks.

There is no "guide" on the coolsat, legal fta in N America doesn't have channel guide.
You can use an analog receiver to move the dish, change polarity, that's what I do on C-band digital.
Of course you can use a Gbox to move the dish if you want, or don't have analog receiver/positioner. But without a c-band lnbf, having voltage-controlled polarity switching, you'll still need a way to change V to H . Unless those gbox things do that too, not familiar with 'em.

Yes, the Gbox will convert/translate the Diseqc 1.2 Commands, so the actuator can understand it, and it will stop when it's supposed to.

Then you wouldn't need the analog receiver to operate the actuator, but you might still need it to change polarity, depending on the type of lnb(s) you have? If you get a Gbox, you could slave the analog out of the "Loop Out" from the back of the Coolsat, and still use the analog for any analog you might want to watch.

The GBox takes the place of the analog receiver for moving the big dish....but if you have an old LNB with the 3 wires (polorotor) then you would need to either switch it out for a voltage switched LNBF (most new ones) or still use the analog

So there is no way to have the Coolsat move the dish through the old receiver.

I either have to get a Gbox, or just move the dish with the old receiver with its controller - then select the channel on the Coolsat. Correct?
