I had read that you could use a Directv or Dish Network DBS receiver to view FTA programming. Is this true? I know that DBS uses circular instead of linear LNB's, but not really sure if the receivers are compatible.

Thank You,
Dave

not possible

and before someone says "well, if you crack the box open and solder pins 3,6, and 8 to your pinky it will work" for sake of argument, we'll just say it doesnt work

main reason is DirecTv doesnt use DVB or DCII for unscrambling so that box wouldnt work
Dish boxes are set for symbol rate 20000, so anything other than that wouldn't work

You can hook a Dish box up to 110/119 and get a couple barker channels & NASA (like you could with a FTA box) :)
