I have both Directv (5 LNB dish) and a motorized FTA system. I used a satellite t.v. splitter on the outside of the house where the lines from the Directv LNBs go (as well as the coax from the motorized FTA sytem converge) as well as inside the house in the room that is using both Directv and the FTA system. I was able to get the Directv service just fine, but, for some reason, I get no signal on the FTA system with this configuration. Is it not possible to use a satellite t.v. splitter for a motorized FTA system with or without a DBS service or am I missing something on the connections?

NO! You can't use a splitter to combine both!

Its ALWAYS a good idea to run an independent run of coax for FTA and to keep both systems separate!

you mean a diplexer?

It won't work since both use the same frequencies. Need a separate line for each setup
