Hello All.
I am now just getting back into this hobby of free to air. Is there any updated versions of FTA books? I have one book that is copyrighted 1997..this was very useful and up to date back then. ("Home Satellite TV and Troubleshooting Manual 5th. Edition") Even though much of the information is still useful, I am looking for something more modern 2008 to 2010.

Thanks for any information.

Here is the list of book offered by Amazon.com, when using a book search with terms "Satellite TV". You can open the 1-st book and see, what else people usually buy on the topic, and what's each book selling rating / popularity.

There is more info contained in the threads here in the FTA forums on SatGuys than any book could hope to have.........and it's realtime up-to-date. ;)

I agree, but the information is not in a concise, book layout form. I think that a Satelliteguy FTA e-book can be made and sold to raise money for the forum. An outline of chapters can be written and members or group of members can volunteer to update the chapters. A member can edit the book into one voice. Satelliteguys are a very diverse of guys and girls that have a lot of knowledge on FTA. It just has to be mined.

I agree with you 100%. When I first joined this site, I didn't realize just how much information was here. Also, there are many members with a great deal of knowledge.

Hi maybe you can help me.I bought a CNX-DUO about a year ago and a friend of mine got it up and running for me.It worked great but I only had it for two days and then they scrambled it.I tried to get it running again but with no luck.I'am not the sharpest on these things. What I need is someone to help me with this. Can you or do you know someone in the Roseville or Lincoln area that could help me with this.It would be great to get this up and running again.
Thank you very much.

I havent seen anybody post updates on this thread since 2010. I am also interested on finding nice books on FTA. These are the ones that look promising, haven't read any of them yet though,

Home Satellite TV Installation and Troubleshooting Manual by Frank Baylin, et al. (mentioned by walker69 who did began this thread)

The last two doesn't seem to be available as new, but used.

There is this one, which i dont know if its related but is about Satellite Communications and has had very good reviews. Its a college textbook so includes formulae and requires some knowledge in trigonometry which i forgot long way ago.
Satellite Communications, Fourth Edition (Professional Engineering) by Dennis Roddy.

So far all books range between late 90s to late 2000s. Any suggestions on more books?. I am the kind of guy who enjoys to learn this stuff in my spare time. :D
