In my humble opinion the best setup to begin with is:

Dish- at least 90cm, bigger is better ;-)

LNB- the fortec .4 db, invacom .3 db, there are a few reviewed in the reviews area

Motor-sg2100

Reciever- several to chose from, i would probably lean towards the pansat 3500 or the coolsat 4000 pro. The pansat 3500 has better support for AC-3 audio. There are LOTS of reciever reviews in the review area.

Hopefully this gives you some ideas..........

I personally looked around my neighborhood for any old primestar dishes in backyards. The company no longer exists and I found that the people were very thankful to get rid of them so they didn't cost me a thing. I did spend $150 on a Pansat 2700R, some cable, a diseqc 4x1 switch. I went several months without even upgrading my lnb's. My total startup cost was about $200. I even found an old analog ku receiver (free) that's great for free football!!!

Receiver-Coolsat 4000 Pro or Pansat 3500s.
Dish-Winegard 76 cm or Fortec 90 cm.
LNB-Invacom .3 or Fortec .4.
Motor-SG2100 or Stab.

Look to spend around $400 (includes cables). If you are a do-it-yourselfer you can save as Sikma says by getting a used dish free or cheap.
