I take it there won't be any Friday surprises this week
Have there ever been any Firday surprises? I can't help but think the staff here has soem info but are being told to keep it quiet.
Last Friday we got TBS HD but I don't think we'll see anything this week.
hrmm... I view suprises as intentional. That was more of a panic from dish.
Honestly, I don't care how or why we got TBS HD but I'm really glad we did. The MLB playoffs look good on TBS HD.

Dish seem to have a habit (or maybe just my imagination) of putting the most popular channels on the weakest transponders available.
I dont think it will be awhile until we see more HD. I fully expect we will have more by the end of the month.
I dont know how they are going to do it, but I keep hearing from contacts that Dish is looking to pull the rug out from under DirecTV to keep its HD leader claim.
Lets hope they actually do it and dont keep using this Enron Style accounting for the HD channel number accounts.

TP6 on 129 is one of the weakest TPs and some genius at Dish Network decided to put TBS HD there. Could've waited after the MLB playoffs to move it back there as I'm sure TBS HD won't have that much HD content.

Thats great news Scott!!!!!! I guess we have to be patient and wait. You are usually on the money with your hints and predictions...so i feel better about the HD on dish now.
scott, i thought it was said that nhl network hd will launch on oct 17 now, is it m eor is that not the end of the month

So far, my money is still on Dish, but I really don't have much of a choice since I am under contract for at least 6 more months.
Since I have joined, Dish has added at least 10-12 hd channels, it is not like they have been just completely neglecting us. They could have waited to add all of them at once like Directv did, but fortunately, they gave us the additions little by little. I don't see them stopping now, especially since Directv has just now gotten into the game.

I loved it last week also. But now that the Indians have moved onto Fox, and hopefully into the World Series on Fox, IT'S BE NICE IF DISH GAVE US CLEVELAND HD LOCALS.
It would be rather fun to let DirecTV start investing in promotional items stating that they are the leader in HD and then let Dish slip in there and make it all moot. Sounds like something a little conniving for Charlie to do. :up
Enron accounting would add in ALL the NHL HD channels and the NBA HD channels (for both the home and away feeds)
Now that should bring the HD count on E* to well over 100 and E* is now back in the HD lead

Why do Dish subscribers think this is acceptable?
If your dish is pointed correctly and there are no obstructions there should be no such thing as a weak transponder.
Honestly, are there any other must have channels for you guys other than USA HD, FX HD, and Sci-Fi HD?
Instead of speculating about how Dish could add 20+ channels by lighting up transponders and moving HD LiLs to six a transponder why not speculate how Dish could make 129 actually consistently watchable for more of their subscribers?
It seems to me you'd all be better served by using the new encoders to keep the LiLs 4 per transponder but switching them down to QPSK and upping the power on the national transponders then adding more HD channels that pixelates every 5 minutes because you're perfectly aligned Dish 1000 only pulls in the transponder you favorite HD channel is on with 25 signal strength on a clear sunny day.
