I have a friend with an old 322 receiver that is unactivated and would like to know if an unactive dish receiver is able to view those channels for testing purposes?

as long as it has a purple card it **should** get a few channels

I know after I cancelled my account the 211 still had a few channels like 101, Nasa, the knockoff shopping channels and the channels that were in freeview. Even after Dee_ Ann got it set up (after I sold it to her) she mentioned seeing those channels in free preview too

edit: from her thread
I have the dishes installed and tested. I get 110/119/129 with crazy strong signals so there is no installation to be done. Everything is installed and functioning just fine. I can see the info channels, NASA, free previews, etc. I also see the channel that congratulates me for having a dish pointed at 129 west.

if its empty you should be OK. Most newer receivers the card is built on the motherboard

If you go to system info and check card. If it starts S19 it **should** be OK (S19 means purple card)
