In the latest creative trend to hit TV drama, Fox is developing the real-time thriller Crisis, about a terrorist takeover of a Miami resort. The project will be produced through former Fox programmer Sandy Grushow's 20th Century Fox TV-based unit Phase Two. Darren Lemke (Boogeyman) will write the script, and David Dobkin (Wedding Crashers) will direct.
Grushow's Phase Two reportedly has sold four other projects to Fox: a comedy written by Everybody Loves Raymond exec producer Steve Skrovan, about a single guy whose friends all have married; hybrid comedy Whacko, about a crazy mom and her kids; the single-cam comedy Bust about a mom-turned-bounty hunter; and an untitled drama set in a Beverly Hills animal hospital.
Separately, Fox also is developing a time-travel drama from The 4400 co-creator Scott Peters. Produced by Touchstone TV, and tentatively titled Revision, the project is about a government agent who travels back into the past to protect the future. Former NBC programmer Warren Littlefield will exec produce along with Peters.
Over at ABC, comic and author Greg Behrendt is developing a romance/relationship special that could turn into a reality series for the network. The project follows Behrendt giving romance advice to couples. (Behrendt and Liz Tucillo co-wrote the best seller He's Just Not That Into You.) He is also developing a daytime strip with Sony Pictures TV.
