woo hoo !

Now, that's what I call a Christmas Present!

And, his Black Friday sale is continued through Dec 3rd, (post #17), so don't be shy.
Get more goodies while the goodies are up for grabs.

stuck thread...

dang. I just made an order yesterday for some parts...might have to scrounge up some more spare change for this one :)

This is great! I just ordered one along with a couple of extra switches and cables. It'll be nice to have a receiver that blindscans properly.

Speaking of which, Viewsat released the much anticipated firmware update for the VS-PRO. I anxiously downloaded and upgraded my box only to be disappointed when I found out that the blindscan still doesn't work. :( In fact the regular scan doesn't work all that well either. I've about had it with this POS. I think once the Fortec M2 gets here the Viewsat will go back into the box and I'll wait for a few more firmware revisions before I try again.

Thanks a million Satellite AV.:up

I love my Fortec Mercury II receiver. Others may have fancier screens but the Fortec has always been rock solid for me.

Brian, perhaps you can check into an email I sent to SAT AV asking about a switch.

If a channel has a name how well does this receiver detect channel names?
(Does it accidently detect ones as "service" or "tv")

Does this receiver work with Channel Master?

How fast is the blind search compared to the Coolsat 5000?

Can this receiver power scan the whole arc with a press of a button?

Thanks.

The receiver will place a service name if broadcast by the uplinker.

Channel Master does not directly communicate with the receiver. I use the Fortec Editor and find the features quite friendly.

I would say that the scan speed is similar, but the Mercury II has more choices for scanning parameters.

The receiver supports multiple satellite scans.

if so I can see me buying 2 or 3

There have been one or two factory firmware updates this year.
Discussion of those should be easy to find here on the forum.
They fixed minor problems related to switches, if I recall.

For general FTA use, the Mercury II is probably one of the top 3..4 receivers you could choose, based on discussions and comments by the members.

If your use is not for FTA, then don't ask about it here.
