are you able to access the recorded shows of the other? I am able to do this with 2 HWS, but since the forced upgrade to the new cui, I can no longer change a conflicted timer to the other. If I switched to 2 H3's, what would have to be changed as far as the wiring I presently have?

If you switched you would have 32 tuners? So conflicts? I don't think so. Like ever! 34 tuners if you have OTA adapters on each Hopper BTW.

I doubt you would need to add any more wiring. If you have two Hopper 3s with two Dual OTA adapters and both Hoppers have PTAT enabled, you would have 42 tuners available. And both H3s will be able to see all recordings.

They would swap out the lnbs for hybrid lnbs and any nodes for hybrid nodes. The wiring would stay the same.

If he does it himself at his expense. If he goes through dish they will replace the lnbs and add a duo hub. According to other threads on here dish doesn’t support 2 H3’s on a 42 switch and possibly not 2 H3’s anymore. But of-course YMMV.

Dish absolute supports 2 H3’s with 42 switch. That’s part of it’s purpose.

Interesting to read this, Today, the installer who came had never installed two H3's. I asked him about the 42 switch and he said it wasn't necessary and that all he needed to do was add the duo hub. I questioned him on this and he assured me that it was all that was needed. He then went outside and climbed on the roof and proceeded to install the duo hub. He then came down, went into the basement, and connected all my wires together using what looked like a splitter. He then came upstairs and proceeded to hook up the two H3's.

So, when the above process didn't work correctly, he called in and asked for help. Afterwards he came and apologized and said that I was right and that the 42 switch was needed with the prior LNB that I had. So he went back to the roof, uninstalled the duo hub and reinstalled my prior LNB, went to the basement and hooked up the 42. Everything went fine after that. Likely about an hour of his time was wasted, but he did learn for subsequent installs and he was very contrite about not knowing how to do the hookup. It was no big deal to me I was happy with his service.
