Football, Local Channels, & HD

So why are games on the local channels not in HD? At first I thought it might have been a NFL & ST thing. But I had sat down to a college game & noticed the same thing. My main issue is that I'm rural and I can get most of my channels OTA. But it takes very favorable conditions for me to get the Fox station without all the blips.

for me its hit and miss
cbs/fox are usually hd

nbc well i onl get that sd since i 'moved' and didnt have them upgrade me to eastern arc afterward

Maybe a silly question....Do you get HD locals over satellite?

ALL NFL games this season originate in HD. So if you're not receiving them in HD it's because 1.) Your locals are not retransmitted by D* in HD o; 2.) You're not receiving your locals OTA in HD. ; 3.) Your local station (while it MUST be digital) is not yet HD.

I cannot think of any other reason.

Yep, news & shows are always HD on local sat. When we get into the MLB postseason, I'll have to see if it's something about live events in our area (Raleigh NC). ...just odd that OTA is HD, but same channel on satellite goes to SD.

So you have HD LIL, good; what is your zip code?

Since you have DirecTV HD locals are you sure you don't have them hidden in the guide / favorites setup? (seems you answered this see next point)

Since you do have HD LIL and you see local programming such as PT shows and news in HD but not games; you should call your local affiliate FIRST as this is most likely a local issue.

What are your signal strengths on the 99 and 103 sats ?

Raleigh is on the 103 sat 21 tp ....

You should have in the 90's on this sat/tp.
