After much hair pulling and gnashing of teeth, I finally acquired the Galaxy 19 signal.
I received my new motor, replaced the defective, but could not acquire anything.
So I decided to remove the motor and replace the dish in a fixed configuration.
After much elevating and pointing I finally got G19.
However, the question is, how do I install the motor using G19 as my reference point?
The install says that the motor must be pointed due south during install, when the dish right now is point towards G19.

Thanks for your help in advance....

Change the Motor control type to USALS and make sure that we entered the Longitude and Latitude (green button). Select G19 satellite and the motor will drive to the calculated position.

Slowly rotate the motor azimuth (left/right) position on the mast, if no Quality, increase or decrease the dish elevation by a degree and sweep again. Remember, the dish elevation calculation is incorrectly printed in the SG9120b manual. It should be 30 degrees minus the declination. In Sacramento, the dish elevation setting should be approximately 24.5 degrees.

Hi Brian. So do I remove the dish, install the motor facing due south and the dish also faces south?
Or must I rotate the dish back to G19 after installing the motor?

Doesn't the SG9120b have a hole in the mast for the dish through-bolt to go through? When the motor is in the zero position, the dish will be aligned in the same centered position.

The motor must always be facing due South. The dish should be facing due South when the shaft is at the '0' position. From there, the motor must be moved to a satellite by USALS and the dish aimed and tweaked.

So before I remove the motor and reinstall, I thought I would post 2 pics showing my motor and dish settings.
Perhaps I need to adjust them instead of reinstall?
I live in Sacramento:

Latitude = 38.5038, Longitude = -121.5154
Lat = 38 degrees, 30.2 minutes North
Long = 121 degrees, 30.9 minutes West

Thanks! Mark

Please disregard previous post.

I have now rechecked and set the dish declination to 6.0 & motor elevation 52 based on my site lat 38.
I had selected USALS in the motor setup and input my coordinates.
I then selected 121 W as my test SAT.
The receiver says that the motor is moving, but I still get nothing but fails.

The best thing to due is to aim true south with theMotorized ku dish, then pick the sat with the closest longitudeto your location. Use the list that has strong TP for aiming aMotorized and fixed dish. Enter lat & long info in receiverWhen the dish stops play with elevation and azmuth. After you Have located your true south sat then you select G25 97.w ku use an active tp. Using usal moveTo that location, play with azmuth and elevation.when you located that sat, you can choose tolocate as many satellites as you want using the same methodes.when ever using usal, as long as you can locate the closest true south sat, the one in the middle of the arc, and one western most away from the arc, your system should be fine then. Good luck

I have now rechecked and set the dish declination to 6.0

If your declination for your area is 6.0, and you have the SG9120b motor, your dish elevation needs to be set at: 30 - 6 = 24 degrees (the booklet says 40 - dec, but it's wrong). Is the dish set at about 24?

Anyone have Ventrilo or Teamspeak and would like to help me further?

if i am reading your pix right, you have latitude on 38 and declination on 42. i might be reading it wrong though but i think that is where i read my declination on my geosatpro dish the the sadoun dg280 motor. charlie

Sorry. settings have been changed due to previous suggestion. Motor elevation is now 52 and Decl is 24.
I know this is a user issue and it's frustrating. My only concern is that I will throw in the towel before
I even get to experience the world of Ku in full...

First off, why is your motor set to Latitude of 32, when Sacramento is a latitude of 38.58??? You set it to the little arrow pointer, NOT the the edge of the NUT!

Hi primestar.
I adjusted the motor lat to 38.58.
But that means that the NUT is at the very end of the angle. is this right?

It sure is right in this case, as long as the little pointer is at 38.58, and you are still in Sacramento. Your newest pics are too small to really see well, but it appears to be right now.

Now, is your DISH set to 24.5 degrees elevation? I don't have a Geosatpro dish like yours, but I don't think you have that set correctly either. Please double-check it, because it looks to me like it's set to 15 or so. You typically align that to an inner metal edge close to the nut, NOT ON the NUT (that alignment edge is to the LEFT side of the nut). So, that inner edge should line up exactly at the 24.5 degrees etched in the outer metal. Then, when your motor is at 0 (zero) and your dish is at 24.5, you aim the whole thing at your true SOUTH bearing.

Your closest south sat appears to be 121W, so set your receiver to that sat, and swing the whole motor and dish to the south carefully (but as I said, make sure the bent post coming out of the motor is on the "0" degrees dial which dial you can see by looking UP under the front lip of the motor.
