Fios to Broadcast Yankees-Mariner game in 3d

I recorded the 2 games. My Samsung 3d tv is up and running, but the 3d starter kit didn't make it for the weekend.

One comment, that looks to be a problem with the Broadcast 3D channels. They are broadcast in side by side format, which means that these channels will not be practical for those without 3d TV's. With the Blu-ray 3D format if you don't have a 3d setup you get a 2d version to view. With this broadcast format (and the over-under format) you get two squeezed images on your screen. 3D Tv's can be set to see the 3d image, or to convert (stretch) the image to 2d, if you don't feel like wearing your 3d glasses.

So until the come up with a different format (or use one the one that Blu-ray is using), carriers will have to carry seperate 2d and 3d channels for any popular channel.

Comments on the 3D of these first 3d Baseball Games

I had recorded the two games and posted this on anoter site. Note the broadcast throughout are mentioned as being "N/3D on DirecTv Powered by Panasonic".

I am updating as my 3d glasses came and I was able to watch the first game in 3d and skimmed the second broadcast. I hear but cannot confirm that N/3d is using 1080p24 for most of its stuff and 1080p for the rest, which would be different than other Fox and ESPN programming which is 720P. The 3d effect was used for great effect particularly on showing the pitching from behind the plate and from the pitcher view. Low shots of the infield definitely showed off the effect. Following the ball in 3d was also different and more obvious in 3d than regular HD. Shots from high in the stadium of the whole field were less effective.

So I've sold my pool table & have 7000$ budget

2D to 3D conversion?
