After a long two year contract, I just finished up at the end of January and I'm a free man.
I really don't want to sign a contract, simply because I want to leave at any time. I also feel you get better customer service when you are not bound by a contract.
Here's my question: Right now I have two receivers that are leased, one is HD and one is just a basic receiver. I don't really watch the HD channels that much, so I just want a basic package.
I downgraded today to Family Choice package but Dish is going to continue to charge me $7 a month for having an HD receiver because I'm not getting the channels.
Does anyone know, without asking them, if they will exchange an HD receiver for a regular receiver if you're off contract? Also, what do you think the best options are for package deals with or without HD channels for under 50 bucks with local channels?
