Well, I finally pieced together a system.
Got a CoolSat 5000 and invacom LNB on ebay a while ago when prices plumetted. (got both for $60 shipped)
I was just waiting to get a dish. I just didn't want to buy one and pay the shipping when I knew I would eventually find one around me. Sure enough, city trash day (the semi-annual ones) came along and on the way to work I saw two dishes: a primestar and a Fortec. Stopped grabbed the fortec (90cm btw) and almost got the primestar till I saw it was bullet riddled.
The fortec was in almost new condition except for sun fade. I was so excited.
(I'll abridge the install activites)
Got home and had some extra coax and ran down to lowes and got a pole for the yard. Got everything setup and aligned. (whole setup took about 2 hours IIRC) but I just ran the coax on the ground for now, bury it later. Then the big test.... did I do it right?
YEP!!! WOO HOOOO!!!!!!
I only have a stationary setup now, but I am hitting IA5 and did a blind scan... VIOLA! Channels!
I am so eager to move over to G10 and some others to test signal then I just gotta order a motor before winter.
Anyways, I learned alot here from you guys and I just wanted to say thanks. The list is long so I won't take the time to name individuals.
I look forward to advancing to a motor setup and possibly a second receiver down the road when I convince the wife.
