After debating with myself over the last few months, ever since a DISH CSR said I qualify for a free upgrade, I finally took the step and got the upgrade installed yesterday. All I can say is "wow". The user interface is huge leap forward, and they have taken many of the UI concepts from Android TV and in some cases improved on them. The sound is much better than the HWS, I am using a Sony HTC380 sound bar, and I have a 55 " Sony XC900C 4k TV. The picture quality is better, specially the SD channels. I have yet to try the 4K content that DISH has.
All I can say, for all of you that may be contemplating, and if you qualify for the free upgrade, this is a no brainer, even though you would be paying $3 extra a month in DVR fees!
Good job DISH!. All the criticism we have heard from Apple about how bad TV/DVR interfaces are now things of the past. If DISH continues on this path, it might surpass Apple TV, since it can provide the entire library of on demand programming from a single interface, rather than the multiple apps that we have to search using Apple TV or Android TV.

Does the $3 extra in DVR fees make it $18/month then?

Did you upgrade to anything in January, pause your service, or make any changes of the nature since then?

I was on a ViP622 since those were "new" so the Hopper3 is absolutely mind blowing. I didn't know what I was missing out on.

Oh, yes. The only thing I'm waiting for is the new switch that will allow multiple Hopper 3s using a single reflector and on the same account. Otherwise I would've made the switch by now. January is supposed to be the magic month. I hope all is on schedule.

Does the Hopper 3 use a solo or duo node like the previous models?

Curious what that looks like... any pics or links?

Here's the Hybrid Solo Hub, used for H3 installs:

There's also a Hybrid Duo Hub for multi H1/H2 installs on a hybrid setup:

Why don't Adult Swim/ Nick@Nite have their own channels?

Did the older 4K Joeys come with the 40 remote?
