I will be getting my Mercury II back from the doctor in the next couple of days and will be back in buissness.
Just curious to what are yall's favorite satellites and why?

I'd say I'm split between G10R (123W) and AMC 3 (87W) My wife and I love PBS and Retro TV.

Are there any ku sats up there that carry 24x7 "CNN" or "BBC World News" type ku free broadcasts? I'm planning on switching to E*'s HD Only pack, and it doesnt have CNN, Fox News or MSNBC.

I've gone through "The List" of various sats, and only really seem to have found ABC News Now on 89W, but not sure if it is really like CNN, or just loops of the same stuff most of the day, and I didnt really find much else. But was kinda overwhelming as to what i was really looking at.

Thought i'd investigate FTA as an option to get 24x7 news.

From a small dish ku, you won't find the regular "cable" news programs on. You may find some wildfeeds during a national event (i.e. primary). Also there are other foreign news channels on G25, interesting to see their slant on events.... So G10R and G25 are the ones I visit the most...

amc7

not the easiest to aquire good signal, very far west for me, now i am happy with signal and it never goes out! not to meantion the channels

fitz you can always park on Gal17 and watch Ohio News Network, a lot like Headline but geared more toward state news for OH. Or do like I do and just go to 97 and watch Russia Today lol.
They do world news. G26 has enough newsfeeds to keep anybody happy though for domestic news.

I tend to park on G26 during the daytime hours, just for CBS NEWSPATH . Seeing the bits and pieces go by can be pretty informative.
:)

my favorites would be galaxy 23 for the sportsman channel, g10r for the outdoor channel and retro and g13 for rfd tv and euro channel.:)
