Hi, we are new to dish network satellite tv and we are locking on to 91 instead of 119 up here in Fairbanks, it is a canandian satellite. we can not get anything else except that with our dish 300 , any suggestions? help?

I hope that your receiver didn't download the Expressvu firmware. IF so you will not be able to see the DISH sats at all. Your receiver would be unuseable for DISHNETWORK at all then. (Expressvu uses the same receivers as dish with different menus and model numbers. ) How come you aren't using a dish installer to set you up?

91

Hi, becuse it takes anywhere from 3-6 months to get anyone out here from fairbanks, and costs anywhere from 600 to 1000 to install a dish system here in fairbanks, we tried to get someone out here to do a site survey and that alone took 3 monthes.

91 instead of 119

we cant seem to lock on to 119 no matter what azimuth or elevation we have. we will just keep trying, if we can not get the signal we will take the equipment back to radio shack where we bought it. they are no help in the matter

91 is not very close to 119... How are you getting your az-el information? If the zip code calculator in the Dish receiver doesn't work, then you may have to use a more complicated program and enter in your lat-long.

You'll never find the sats you want just waving the dish around in different directions. You have to get close enough for the receiver (or a signal-strength meter) to get something. And for that, you need to be aligned fairly well, let's say plus/minus 2 deg in both azimuth and elevation.

I don't know a lot about ak dish installs, but isn't a 300 pretty small to get any kind of a decent signal?
