External Hard Drive Database Western Digital 750 gig

Can the hard drive be partitioned and work for dish and also be used for computer backup? just wondering if there was a way to do it?? Has anyone tried?

I don't know how the DVR would know what partition to use. It may see each partition as a seperate device and format all the partitions. But HD memory is so cheap, just get a seperate drive.

The most durable external HD I have seen is an old 250 GB no name I got somewhere on the web, probably Buy.com, that has a Maxtor HD. I dropped it once 3 feet, WHILE RUNNING, and it still works!
