Hey guys! Yes, I'm back after some time away. Finishing up college, and starting a full time job set me back. Also, upgrading my computer put my my Twinhan 102g out of use for a little while. I found out it doesn't play nice with Vista (anybody got a solution, besides a different card? They don't make drivers for it!). Anyways, not quite on topic. SOOO, I'm going to be moving in the near future and definitely want to park a BUD at my new residence once I get settled in. Obviously, finding a dish is the most important thing. However, I do know that there are other key elements that play an important role. Right now, I'm very confused about LNBs. They seem to range widely in prices. Now, I remember my dad had a BUD for a long time (back in the day...then we got cable and then DirecTV...almost cried when I found out how useful they still here. And he had an 11ft solid...yes, you read that right...11ft). The LNB made a big difference in how much snow was on the screen. But now that we're mostly using digital, does an expensive LNB make a big difference in the signal? I know a lot of you guys use the BSC621...that seems like an awesome deal for a C and Ku LNB and scalar ring. How would that compare with some of these Norsat LNBs at Skyvision that go for $200+ without the scalar ring? For an 8 or 10ft dish on some of the weaker sats, would I see a huge improvement? While I plan on playing with everything C has to offer, I'll mostly be feed hunting for sports backhauls.
