In these parts, Hockey is a step above religion. Almost weekly now parents fights, some sue, coaches abused, refs beat up. people suspended, coaches fighting parents and/or players....
My community, a lot of 4 and 5 year olds are enrolled in power skating classes. 6 years old and up play organized hockey year round. By the time they're 8, the entire community knows if the kid has it or doesnt. Kinda sad actually
Also, when CBC lost its right to the Hockey Night in Canada anthem, half the country nearly revolted.
This summer I was at a pizza joint after a softball game, my entire team were talking hockey and specifically what skills each of the players had on the team.. I asked them if they were talking about junior hockey.... they were talking about the local midget league (9 year olds)
