I am looking for help in deciding whether to return to C-Band or not. I still have my original dish that needs to probably be retooled and I more than likely will need a new receiver (4dtv had just begun when I switched to DTV).

Other than receiving wild feeds, and the expense of refurbishing my dish, is it worth still going back. Can I receive HDTV?

(Sunday Ticket was my original need for C-Band. Can all NFL games still be seen on C-Band?)

I did a dish refurb last year: Same dish, New actuator (arm) /New feedhorn/2 lnbs/4dtv receiver/new cable to house.

Total cost was about 750

My total subs comes to about 19/mo.

Sports feeds are a mixed bag. NFL feeds don't exist, except a few during preseason--but those are often telecast anyway.

In a given evening, there are always a few games on, but you can't always be sure who.

Yes, you can receive HDTV depending on the receiver you buy for MPEG.

Analog c band is still worth it for wildfeeds especially during the college football and basketball games. The NFL regular season backhauls that were on SBS 6 for NBC and Telstar 301, 302, 401, 402 for CBS all went scrambled in the '94 season. You could still listen to the NBC games on ku for a few seasons, but now most of the NFL feeds are fiber especially the games in the Sunday Ticket.

Hi Mike,
When people say fiber, do they actually mean underground fiber optic? is this a dedicated line? I can't believe they'd trust the internet for live feeds.
