Go shopping on Black Friday?

I'd rather play with kerosene and matches.

Actually, on Black Friday I'll actually be touring "Assisted Living" facilities with/for my in-laws.

Then again, maybe I really do need to go shopping. :(

After you tour asisted living facilities you may feel that you can't afford to go shopping. My parents are in one and the cost is skyhigh. yes we get various forms of assistance and resources but most who who get involved are shocked at the price

Yes. They're church mice, but seem to think they'll get in a nice place. I'm just going to have to let this one play itself out. They've already been turned down at 3 different places. Something like 6 or 8 more to see.

But Black Friday aside, I've already gotten my Xmas gift. An Onkyo 805. My wife got hers, too- a new dishwasher and fancy range. ....Hey, wait a minute!

Yea but for a few more $ you can get the 1080p sharp LC46D64U , I've bought mine online for retail , will show up when they open ( in my Case sears ) with CC ad in hand to get price adjustment , if it works out right I will get $230 ( maybe $340) (10% off for using sears CC ($130 or $230 depending on how its deducted), 110% price match on $2,300 vs. $1,300 = $100
SO its $1,300 - $130 (might be $230)= $1,170 - $100 = $1,070 plus tax
( could be $970 plus tax :):D

I just saw an ad earlier on tv adveritsiing 32 inch LCD television for $399 and its normally $699. It is going to be available for that price on Thanksgiving Day at K-Mart.

I will be avoiding any retail establishment that day. I am also boycotting K-Mart as long as they are open on Thanksgiving day. Not one nickel from me to a company that takes one of the last two "blue" holidays away from its employees.

See ya

I agree. Give your employees time to be with their families!
I never go out shopping on Black Friday. Might do some online stuff though.

Tailgating and beer drinking starts at 7am to prepare for the LSU game at 1:30p. Look for me in the endzone! The guy in the purple shirt. :)

I know I won't be shopping on black friday. Too Crazy for me.

People need to think twice before talking about boycotting.

Hotels have to stay open because, they guest staying over. Airports, airlines etc. are open because people want to travel. Gas stations are open because when you run out of beer you can go and buy some. Don't also forget that most of all theose emploees are nor going to be paid at regular rate. I know a lot of people who always work on Thanksgiving and Christmas day because they get triple pay.
Happy Turkey Day folks and be sure to get stuffed.:) (this is the only day you can say that)

Yeah, yeah, yeah... I WANT BLUE LAWS BACK!

I remember a time, not so long ago that you planned ahead because gas stations WEREN'T open except very limited hours on holidays it at all!

They don't kill the economy! Just ask the Europeans. The Euro is about to take over as the world currency!

But all the items you mentioned: food, travel, fuel, are more necessities really.
Shopping for that one perfect gift can wait 1 day. Retail stores have been closed on Thanksgiving for ever because they are not necessary and, until recently, the owners cared about their employees. Now that everything is corporate, the one chain that was going under thought they would get a leg up on the competition and open on Thanksgiving for the all mighty buck! Well, they may succeed, but NEVER with my buck!

I worked retail for many years and it was bad enough when I had to work until Midnight Wednesday and have to be at work at 5:30am on Friday, thanks!

I can also tell you from experience that as more and more places start opening these holidays, the mythical "triple time" (never seen it personally) and other perks to work vanish! I remember when stores started opening sundays on a regular basis! We used to get time and a half plus a few other perks. After 1 year, that vanished too.

See ya
Tony
