Ever see diagonal framing?

My neighbor across the street is building a new home and it is all diagonal framing. I have never seen this before. I would think this would make finding centers a real challenge. Spoiler alert: I'm no builder!!

It's different for sure. I wonder what the architect had in mind. Diagonal bracing for structural strength is common, but that looks more like an aesthetic feature of some sort.
 
I wonder too!!! Thought I was in the Pub.
No harm done. My blunder, posting in the Pub when I thought I was in the Pit, was much worse and fortunately the mods told me about that and I fixed it while I could still edit my post.

For the record, I haven't seen diagonal framing before either. :D
