Is there an ETA for nationwide "production" release of MRV?

Is there an ETA for nationwide "production" release of MRV?

I would doubt it's anytime soon, it needs alot of work to get the kinks out before it's going nationwide.
They recently took it out of the CE, probably to do some internal changes.

Figure at least two to three weeks for the current release to go nation and start being distributed. Another week after that before a new CE cycle starts. No idea if MRV will be enabled in that first CE but it probably will. Figure between 8-12 weeks for that CE cycle to wrap up and get ready for national release.

So a rough guess would be 10-15 weeks, mid october to late november?

I'm going a little long on this because I figure if MRV was 3-4 weeks away from being fixed to a satisfactory level, they'd have wrapped it up in this CE. They pretty much stopped working on it 3 weeks ago.

Is it possible that with the removal of MRV from the CE that they are getting ready to make a National Release of what's left?

Yes, the last two weeks worth were customer candidates. I've only been playing with the CE for a year, but I havent seen more than 3 customer candidates before it turns into an NR.

What I did notice in this weeks release notes was that last week said "customer candidate" in the risk section, but this week it says "moderate risk" instead. So maybe they realized they were further than 3 weeks away.

I've also noted that the directv firmware in general seems to have to deal with a lot of tolerance variances in the hardware, and that some tweaks work well for 98% of people and badly for the other 2%. The system test that tosses out the bad dish aiming for some people is one example. The wild variance in remote response times is another. That some people never had problems with MRV while others had plenty is a third. There also seems to be some variance between models and within the same model. I've noticed on my advanced test menu that there are a number of things in the box with version numbers, so maybe the in-model variances are due to other internal parts/versions being different even though both are HR20-100's.

I would imagine at some point when they get the stuff working for the vast majority of customers and cant accommodate a minority of boxes/configurations that are still tossing their cookies, they roll it out anyhow and let the small number of customers it affects to call up and swap out their boxes.

Hopefully they have the protection plan...

cfb: Thanks for that explanation. I never even thought of hardware tolerances causing some problems. But, it does make sense to me.

I'll be waiting for the NR.

After waiting for 3 days, there are very few problems being reported in the issues threads on any of the CE sites I've looked at so I'm guessing at this point that this goes NR this week or next.

Watch for the friday/sat with no CE...

Just because they send out a NR , doesn't mean us testers will not have a CE.

They have only NOT had a CE about 10 times since it all started.

Its not uncommon for directv to skip a weekend when a CE rolls national.

Plus someone who knows a few things told me they were probably going to have a one week gap on this go-round.

CE's for 7/31 & 8/1

HR2x / R22 CE Release v.0339 7/17 & 7/18
