Equity Broadacasting (G10 channels) buys a new station, and this one hits close to home (literally).

From www.northpine.com/broadcast

Equity Broadcasting is buying 110-Watt WBWX-CA/13 (Minneapolis) from The Box Worldwide, a subsidiary of Viacom, for $1.25 million. Equity is based in Little Rock, Arkansas, where programming for its few dozen stations originates through a Central Automated Satellite Hub (C.A.S.H.) Equity's station group includes affiliates of Univision and Telefutura, which are not currently available over-the-air in Minneapolis. WBWX-CA currently carries MTV2, and holds a construction permit to move to channel 33 with 24kW. (9/4/2004)

Knowing Equity's track record, it will be either Univison or Telefutura. (All the other newtorks Equity has we have an OTA channel in Mpls)

Great news for us up here, I wonder if they will also carry a OTA HD channel?

nope

Its low powered (110 watts) so they dont need to do HD

a HD channel of Univision?? "Caliente" in HD (now that'd be nice) :):D

They can't even get a const. permit for more power due to Channel 13 in Eau Claire

didnt mean to drudge up old topic, but new developements

from www.northpine.com/broadcast

Spanish-language broadcast TV is about to come to Minnesota. Equity Broadcasting plans to convert WBWX-CA/13 (Minneapolis) to an Univision affiliate by mid-January, according to the Fort Myers News-Press. Equity is buying the 110-Watt station from Viacom for $1.25 million. WBWX-CA has a construction permit to upgrade to 1.25kW; an earlier CP to move to channel 33 has expired. The station currently carries MTV2.
