Equipment Lease Help Needed

I canceled a R15 on my account. Since it is a leased box, they want me to send it back. I paid the lease fee. I have 4 other receivers on my account. Can I call and inform them that I want to keep it just in case I ever want to reactivate it as long as my account is in good standing and I don't cancel service? This way I can avoid another lease fee in the future should I ever want another DVR on the account.
 
You need to call and ask DirecTV this question.

I suspoect that their answer will be no. If you want to keep it, pay the mirroring fee and keep it active.
 
I just don't to pay another $99 upfront again if I ever want to add another DVR. This way I can avoid the upfront costs in the future.

How long does it usually take for them to send the "return" prepaid box for collection of a deactivated DVR?

Well its been 26 days since I canceled the reciever and still no box requesting it back. I'll just keep it in the basement just in case I ever want another DVR. If (never will happen) I leave DirecTV I will return it then.

Check that they don't add a non-return fee to your account. They were slow on sending the return kit when I deactivated a box and hit me for that even though I returned it the day after the kit arrived. The charge was reversed a few days later.
 
Nutflush i upgraded to the hddvr. I deactivated the reciever it replaced and was told that a box would be sent but it still has not showed up and its been a month but i have had no extra charges
 
Thanks Cincyray. I think I'll just keep it until they request it back. If I see a charge for it I will then call and resolve it then.
