Educate me please

Hello all,

I have been using a 721 receiver for many years and have been extremely pleased with it.

But now I would like to make the move into HD and am not sure which receiver is for me.

I love the ability record one show while watching another on the 721 and this would be a requirement for the new receiver.


Which of the HD receivers would be a good replacement for me?

No question, ViP622. I have a ViP622, a 721 and a 508. Your move from a 721 to a ViP622 will be easy. You keep the synopsis and preview window in the EPG. PIP. POP is added. Recording rules are similar (2 satellite tuners). Plus you get an OTA tuner. More space for SD. And of course, the upgrade to HD, 8PSK and MPEG-4 (future proofing, to some degree).

Yes and that is a little odd, one would think that the Dish Web site would be compatible with all popular browsers.

The EKB ViP622 page is primitive enough for all browsers (not meaning to slam Firefox which I have never seen but hear good things about) and has links to info and reviews.
