EchoStar Names Vogel As President, Han As CFO; Rayner Appointed Executive Vice President

ENGLEWOOD, Colo. (AP) -- Satellite television provider EchoStar Communications Corp. on Monday named Carl Vogel as president, effective immediately. Vogel will continue to serve as vice chairman of the board of directors.

In his new role, Vogel will be responsible for the Dish Network's daily operations. He will also continue to be in charge of the company's financial and strategic initiatives.

He recently served as president and CEO of Charter Communications. Vogel was EchoStar's president from 1994 to 1997.

EchoStar also named Bernard L. Han as its chief financial officer, effective Sept. 28.

Han replaces David J. Rayner, who will shift into the newly created position of executive vice president in charge of the company's national installation and service network.

Han previously served as executive vice president and CFO of Northwest Airlines. He will report to Chairman and Chief Executive Charles Ergen.

Rayner previously served as senior vice president and CFO of Time Warner Telecom. He will report to Vogel.
