Can someone please give me the signal strength benchmarks for 61.5, 72 and 77 and the corresponding transponders to make sure the 1000.4 dish is properly tuned? Thanks

Signal strength..

In upstate NY, aligned to 72.7 I was able to get 57 peak on transponder 21 per instructions with a 211K. Did not check 61.5 or 77 as they are working fine....

Don't be fooled by the Signal Strength Screen having a scale of 125. Why the engineers at Dish don't adjust this to a more reasonable scale, I don't know.

About the highest signal we installers can get is around 90 (give or take a few points) for the 119 sat.

I know the Eastern Arc ranges in the 50s and 60s give or take a some depending on the particular transponder and satellite.

Location can also play a factor if you're on the edge of a beam.

Minneapolis, MN with a fairly new 1000.4 installation on a clear day...

61.5 TP21 57
72.7 TP21 42
77 TP21 55

I have not had any problems loosing programming but have checked 72.7 during rain and heavy clouds a few times and watched it easily dipping into the teens. With an HD package I imagine I am mostly watching 61.5 but I am a bit concerned about my low 72.7 numbers. If there are any other Twin Cities people interested my 61.5 spotbeam is high 30's.

Using the same transponders as the previous poster as a reference...

Near Indianapolis, Indiana on a clear day.

61.5 TP21 53
72.7 TP21 51
77 TP21 57

No problems except during extreme rain. HD Absolute programming package.

You should peak on TP19 or TP21 for satellite 72.7. In central NC, I am getting
57 on TP19 and 53 on TP21. This was after moving (verticle adjustment) of the dish on my own. The HD improved a lot. The installer only had me at 51 on TP19 and 51 on TP21. Use a sharpie pen and mark your current settings (so you can always get back to where you are) and see the link below for adjustments and setup.

I went ahead and tried the fine tuning just for fun resulting in a slight improvement on 72.7 TP 21 to approx. 45-46. The 77 signal remained about the same (55) and I paid a 2-3 point penalty on 61.5 (now 55). The fine tuning for elevation and azimuth is pretty slick on the 1000.4 dish.
