A couple of months ago my university changed over from individual Dish receivers to the Smartbox. Ever since then we have had problems with the Eastern arc Dish channels breaking up at night. We are using one meter dishes for each satellite and fiber optic cables from the roof to the Smartbox, so I don't believe signal loss is an issue. Our provider has looked into it and several other of their locations (all on the Eastern arc with a Smartbox) are having the same problem. They also told us that their locations with Smartboxes that are looking at the Western arc are not having the problem. Our provider wants to change us over to the Western arc to see if that fixes the problem.
