Eagle Broadband, Inc. announced that the company's MediaPro IP5000 set-top boxes now include an MPEG -4 H.264 option which allows telcos and other DSL-based broadband providers to more efficiently deliver the most advanced IPTV experience to their subscribers, including dual tuning, dual streaming Personal Video Recording (PVR) functionality in standard and high-definition formats.
This week at the TelcoTV Conference and Expo in San Diego Eagle will be demonstrating its newest version of the MediaPro IP5000, the company's high-end standard and high definition IP set-top box for the hospitality and residential markets. The IP5000 delivers the advanced processing needed for a range of advanced, interactive services including internet browsing, gaming, video on demand, PVR, etc. The addition of the MPEG -4 H.264 capability expands upon Eagle's proven success delivering advanced video services over MPEG 2-based IP networks and now allows broadband providers to more efficiently deliver the most advanced IPTV services using less bandwidth.
TelcoTV attendees can see a demonstration of the MediaPro IP5000 featuring both standard and high-definition programming in MPEG -4 H.264 at Eagle Broadband's booth #614.
"The MediaPro IP5000 has proven to be one of the most advanced set-top boxes for both residential and hospitality markets," said David Micek, president and CEO of Eagle Broadband. "With the addition of MPEG -4 H.264, Eagle can now offer telcos and other broadband service providers that use DSL networks, a way to add the most advanced IPTV service offering to their bundle of voice and data services. By combining the MediaPro IP5000 with IPTVComplete(TM), telcos now have a single source for an end-to-end IPTV solution that enables them to quickly and cost-effectively deliver an exceptional, IP-based television and entertainment experience to their subscribers that is superior to cable or satellite offerings."
The MediaPro IP5000 platform features advanced Intel(R) architecture graphics and memory controller with a highly integrated graphics accelerator. The architecture consists of dedicated multi-media engines executing in parallel to deliver high performance 2D, 3D and motion compensation video capabilities. The MediaPro IP5000 supports a VESA DDC2B compliant display interface and a digital video out port to provide NTSC and PAL broadcast standards.
The IP5000 also provides full PVR functionality in an IP-based format including record, playback, fast-forward and rewind of live and scheduled programming; live broadcast pause, instant rewind and playback with slow motion; and the capability to use all of these features while recording another broadcast. The PVR recording storage capacity is dependent upon the size of hard-disk, which is configurable based upon service provider requirements. The entire line of MediaPro set-top boxes supports a variety of leading middleware and video-on-demand systems and delivers advanced content system security and digital rights management (DRM) needed by a wide variety of industries, such as telco, hospitality, enterprise, and government markets.
