how do I save dish dvr recordings to another source???

Connect via composite and RCA audio cables and record in real time. SD, of course.

Recordings are encrypted, hard to playback if on some other source other than EHD used by the Vip receivers besides what Navychop stated.

Yep, I used to do that from time to time with a dvd recorder.
