DVR 80 with cable system?

I've got my old DVR 80 on eBay and someone asked a question....can he use the DVR with his cable system as well as DTV? I got rid of cable in favor of DTV so never entertained the idea. So, if his cable company has those cable cards that serve 2 tuners on one card...will it work?

It ONLY works on D* - NOT cable, DISH, or OTA at all. It doesn't have the eletronics to do so...
