DVR 510 editing feature

I know that the advertising giants would go nuts over this. Has anyone ever been able to hack any of the Dish Network DVR/PVR software that would allow the user to force commercials to be hidden during playback? I know that you are able to skip through commercials but what's the difference if they were hidden or accessed only if the customer chooses. Even if they could be indexed by the customer would be helpful. I have a Philips DVD recorder which states that segments on a disc can be skipped before the disc is burned but I have not been able to get it to work properly.
