Greetings, I'm new to the forum and enjoy playing with my satellite equipment to get the most bang for my buck. You'll see me in here fairly often going forward. Thanks in advance for those who help or offer direction for my inquiries. My apologies if this belongs in a different forum or has already been answered... I looked but did not find.

My first technical question involves the difference between DTV-HD and DN-HD dishes and if they are interchangable between service providers.

I recently moved (again) and did not bring my large oval DTV-HD dish with me. I don't qualify for the free install because I've moved too many times in the last year. My new house already has two dishes installed - a DTV standard small round dish and a Dish Network large oval HD dish. I recall about 10 years ago we could use DN dishes to pickup DTV signal and vice versa; is this still the case? Can I use the DN-HD dish to pickup all the satellites and HD channels that my old DTV dish picked up?

My guess is no due to the dimensions of the dish being different but though I'd ask before I write off the idea.

Welcome to the site !

I would not recommend using the wrong one as the reflectors and the focal points will not be the same and you would potentially have issues.
I am not sure if the LNBs would work , probably not, but if you want to play, go ahead and try, see if you can put a D* LNB on the DISH set up and play with it.

If thats not what your wanting to do, I would suggest purchasing a new set up all together from a site sponsor.
