A friend scored a nearly new dish while at the dump today, I haven't gotten it yet but plan to on Sunday. I have a Direcway white ellipt dish, but it wasn't ever on the DTV television system, so I don't know if what I'm getting is worthwhile or not.
Unk size, he says it has 4 lnbf mounted , 2 together like a DN twin, plus 2 more, one that is supposedly linear, and some type of assembly on back of dish possibly containing switch(s). Andrews , brandname on dish, he said.
Anybody else using one of these things?? I figure the linear lnbf would be useful, if nothing else, and it was about to be thrown away anyway. Maybe the switches would be good for something too, once I figure out what kind they are.

Sounds like a E* Superdish. I sold one for 80 bucks on Ebay...:)

D*...may be an AT-9....the Slimline dish has all the lnb's in one housing, the housing is shaped like a bananna.

Let us know what ya got!

EDIT: I just saw the reference to Andrews on the dish....so it might not be for D* OR E*......I've never seen a multifeed Andrews dish around here...Andrews dishes are easy to spot...BIG red lightning bolt on them...:)

He did mention that lightning bolt lol. I'll pick it up tomorrow. Sounds like the dishnetwork dish thats rigged for HD and foreign channels, if Directv places it around on diff sats like DN does. Just hope its big enough to be useful, in case I decide to
put it someplace and use it for FTA.

Post a pic of it when you get it and we will tell you exactly what it is and if it is useful to you.

ANole its shaped like that 'discontinued' model for mpeg4 that was on page 1 of the link you sent me. An oddball looking thing, it has 3 lnbs, one in the 'prime' spot that doesnt look circular to me, and then the 2 ordinary looking singles on a short extension out to the right, at an weird angle. Like they were added as an afterthought lol. Was too dark to look at it very well when I finally got in tonite. Its not another internet dish though, Andrew brand name is on back-complex looking setup for leveling, and adjusting. The @#! is dang heavy, bubble level in the mount.

Is it this dish?

That sure looks like it, it has that 3foot mount, that has to be what is so heavy on it.
From the looks of that spec info>none of these are linear lnbfs, so it doesnt look like this one would be useable for any fta at all. Though I don't know about 101 at all , regarding direc tv signals.

glass half empty? glass half full?

Well, it's massive, that's true.
So, it should be very stable.
The adjustment mechanism might make it easy to aim.
And once aimed, it should stay on-target just fine.

None of those Ku birds are linear - they're all circular.
So, unless you wanted music/NASA/Angel from 119, the LNBs would have to go.

I've never seen one in person, so I don't know how hard it would be to mount a standard linear LNB in place of that cluster they have at the focal point.
There have certainly been enough threads posted by creative members, solving that very problem. ;)

If you don't want it, send it over to LinuxMan in St Louis.
He seems addicted to mounting two LNBs on everything he gets his hands on. :D

I'd like to have it too if you don't want it... that fine tuning adjustment mechanism is a bear...but man you should be able to LOCK ON a satellite with that much fine adjustment. :)

I've been looking for one of those around here...I wanna jury rig a P* reflector to the D* mount for fun. With the struts for the mast ( did you get the mast struts?) I think it would make a dandy mount for a P*.

stogie I got one strut and some screws, haven't tried to piece it together yet, maybe there was more struts? Too hot to play with it today, trying to keep watering my garden in hopes it dont burn completely up.....I doubt anyone would want to pay shipping on this monstrosity, has to be 40lbs or more..

Depending on the original install it may have only used one strut. My roof mount used two struts...my best friend's mount to the side of his house only one. I think the installer makes the call. Those struts are expensive...30 bucks for two before shipping....

If I was about a week earlier I could have picked it up...I went rocketing through North Alabama last Monday on the way home from Indy...:)

I am thinking very seriously asking the next D* installer I see about getting one...they are replacing the AT-9's with the Slimline dishes whenever possible I hear...lots of problems with the AT-9. More dishes to tinker with are always good. :)
