I've had my Dish 500 w/Legacy Twin and a Dish 300 pointed at 61.5 for the last four years now and I've toying with the idea of getting the "free" SuperDish upgrade. Unfortunately, before the SuperDish was announced, I had bought a DishPro Twin LNBf, a DishPro LNBf, and a DP34 switch. The SuperDish came out before I got around to swapping out the Legacy parts. So, they've been sitting on the shelf, unused, while I waited for our locals to appear on SD.

Now, I like having the 61.5 dish, even though I don't subscribe to any foreign channels, but every once in a while, there are the free peeks at the new foreign language channels. But, hey, it's up there on the roof, and I'd like to keep it in case anything good shows up there.

My question: If I order the SuperDish upgrade, will it include the new DP44+ switch so I can keep the 61.5? I guess I should add that my household has a 6000 and an 811, so I could make the case that the DP44+ would eliminate the need for a Legacy Adapter to hook up the 6000. It seems like a reasonable thing to do, but when you mix CSRs and Installers into the mix, well...

It should be provided for free along with the SD Upgrade.. if you let them know when you're ordering it so they can place it on the workorder.

A 6000 you say? CBS-HD is on 61.5. The installer won't know about your qualifications or lack of them. You have it and they should intergrate it for free.

Last I heard, E* wasn't reimbursing retailers for DPP44 switches. Hopefully, that's no longer true.

However, you DO have something to barter with: DP Twin, two DP34s (the second one is the one that comes with the superdish), and your old Legacy gear. They're not worth much, but add it all up, and I'd do it for you.

Simon,
You'd travel 800+ miles to do an install in exchange for some Dish hardware? Wow, what a trooper!:D

Seriously, though, I guess the thing I'm worried about is not having control over who Dish selects to do the installation. When I called the folks at the company that "installed" my 811, they said they didn't do SuperDish upgrades, that I needed to call 1-800-333-DISH.

And to top it all off, now we're in the Lake-Effect Snow season. I don't envy the people that need to go up on my second-story roof to mount the new SD.

For the hardcore E* fan...
