downloading from my 942 DVR

I have the DishNet 942 DVR receiver. I was wondering is there any way to download the files from the DVR, to my computer and create a DVD. I was thinking of buying a DVD recorder but was informed that the recording would be done in real time. Anyway to transfer the digital file.
