Dolby Digital Plus Comes to UltraViolet

Dolby Digital Plus audio can now be encoded on UltraViolet files through the platform’s common file format (CFF), the company announced.

The UltraViolet CFF allows for consistency of file downloads across retailers, applications and devices.

“A new era in entertainment has begun with UltraViolet, and Dolby is working closely with the content community to ensure that consumers of UltraViolet content can enjoy optimized sound, no matter what content, service or device they choose," said Ron Geller, VP of worldwide content relations for Dolby.

But how many devices that use ultraviolet can handle DD+? I've never even used my UVs.

I refuse to buy any BDs with UV. I only will buy them with the iTunes/Windows digital copies. It is ridiculous amount of access restrictions with UV.

I buy whatever is cheapest. I like the Blu-ray only packs, I dont need no stupid DVD's either...

I don't mind coming with a DVD, but I don't see needing, BD, DVD, UV, etc.

I like the digital copy since I can watch on AppleTV, iPad, iPhone, etc.

IMO, they just are shoving the DVD in with the Blu to make Blu sales look better, and I get what digital copy's bring, but offer a Blu-ray only, I mean dayum...

I wonder how long before you will have to buy the Blu to get a DVD.
