Does Sci Fi Channel broadcast in HD?

If so, is there any chance we'll get it anytime soon on E*?

Am I crazy for even asking about it? :)

They have gone even father and said that it is not planed.

One would think that this would be one of the most coveted HD channels if it existed.

But since there is no money in HD NBC/Universal are in no rush.

Sci-Fi Channel + HD = Fiction

Does anyone else find it ironic that Food TV and HGTV have made the effort/investment to go HD, while the one channel that really SHOULD be in HD is dragging @ss? It really bugs me.

I'm not knocking Food and HG at all - I commend them for the commitment.

However, Sci-Fi Channel, you've left me no choice:
YOU'RE ON NOTICE!!!

I do think it is crazy that they are not in HD, but it is understandable why Food and HGTV are in HD. In my house basically the ONLY satellite channel my wife watches other than the occasional networks is FOOD. I suspect it is common in many households. :)

YES, I would love Sci Fi - geez, would I ever, but this isn't one that's E*'s fault. Best thing to do is to write to NBC and Sci Fi and ASK them to add Sci Fi in HD! I think I did that once already this summer.

As a major watcher of this network (Stargates, Eureka, Battlestar Galactica, etc) I have written the network and called many times about HD plans.

They are happy to tell me again and again, that they have NO PLANS to go HD and it isn't even being discussed. They seem proud of their stance. My last contact with them was about 6/7 weeks ago at the start of the new Stargate seasons.

Shame really, there is no other network I watch more and no other networks who's programming screams out for HD. I mean I can get Desperate Housewives in HD but not Stargate? Sad!

We may not be able to watch the Stargates in HD, but according to the iTunes email I just got, you can now download SG1 and SGA episodes for the iPod.

Of course, who wants to watch the shows on a 1" screen!

Isn't it possible that the response they give to consumer requests is just like E*. Ask E* if Food HD is coming, and you get a blabbering response with no answer; then two days later it goes live. E* simply does not want to say anything about what they are planning.

Maybe Sci Fi simple does not want to raise expectations about something they are thinking about, but aren't ready to implement, for whatever reason.

I sort of look at it as if the HDTV world is spinning right now, and change is occuring so quickly that its hard to know what will come out in HD and when. Yes, I desperately want Sci Fi HD, but it aint happening quite yet.

... Until all of a sudden Scott posts a surprise exclusive message in the Pub about its arrival. I look forward to that day! (Ok, I can dream!)

So, does your wife cook those fancy meals for you or just drool over them. I see no use for small portion of sh*t with drizzle over it. It is not food.

I wish Showtime purchased Stargate back, at least then we could have seen it in its full glory.

You would think SciFi would relalize that the two biggest markets for HDTV's are jocks who watch sports and geeks who watch scifi!? Obviously the sports groups acknowledge this, too bad the dip sticks at SciFi haven't.

I would simply keep pressure on UHD to carry those series over from Sci-Fi and other sources...they're already doing so w/ Battlestar Galactica, and they're going to be showing Enterprise in the Fall.

Of course, it helps when the shows are actually produced in HD.

Anyone know if Eureka is HD mastered? I personally would love to see re-broadcasts of Farscape in HD.

I assume you are responding to me. Lucky for me, my wife is an excellent cook, and she has gone to the Food Network website for many a recipe she has seen on it.

I am not sure what the small portion of sh*t with drizzle over it refers to.

I was just trying to make the point about why a network like Food would go HD; and why Sci Fi might not want their plans to be known if, in their current business plan, their HD feed is a while away.
