Does hopper check for software updates EVERY night?

I'm just curious if it's every night or just every so often. The reason I ask is because I've had 2 occasions in the past couple weeks where I was scheduled to record something at 1am and both of these particular shows started to play back and the picture freezes about 1-2 minutes in and will not play any further. I assume it's because the system shut down for a software update or maybe was just checking for an update (I'm always asleep at this time). But I've also had other shows that I've recorded at 1am and never had any problems. So I'm sort of worried about recording anything at 1am anymore.

The Hopper is the same as the ViP922. At 1:00am it will display a pop-up that states the system will shut down, you can manually override it at this point but if you are not watching TV, it will automatically update.

So I'm guessing that just checking for an update doesn't interrupt recordings, because most of my 1am shows are fine. But if there's an actual update then it probably stops the recording for the update. Would that be correct? Why else would some shows play fine and others do not?

I will look into this a little further. I am not sure why only some recordings are being effected. I will let you know when I hear back!

Installer question (consumers feel free to chime in too)

Dish Games for the Hopper?
