I remember a while back that people were talking about getting a flyer in the mail from D* talking all about the new HD stations and had a channel guide and all that good stuff. People often cited it when talking about the whole MSGHD controversy.

Now.. I just got this flyer YESTERDAY. And this isn't the first time I've gotten stuff that's been very delayed. Whenever I would get a new receiver or whatever, I wouldn't get any information from D* in the mail until at LEAST 60 days afterwards (more than likely it was longer than that, but I can't speak with 100% certainty that it was later.. probably more like 90-105.)

I hope I'm not out of line for putting this in HD discussion, and if so I'm sure a mod will move it appropriately.. but does anyone else have this issue where most stuff comes in late or not at an appropriate time? I mean of course I get League Pass and Sunday Ticket Flyers before the end of an appropriate time like I don't get LP stuff in November. But does anyone else have this issue with D*?

Obviously its not that big of a deal, but if they're sending me stuff lauding new services, I'd like to get it at a more relevant time, because in the HD flyer it had a bunch of references to channels that were "coming soon" that had already come, and that people were constantly referencing it here a while back. Do I stand alone in this random complaint?

this stuff is sent out bulk mail so depending on where you live, it might take a bit for it to get to you. i just received my flyer monday. and i received a flyer about league pass one day last week.

I use that kind of stuff to start my fire in the evening !

Actually, you COULD try calling D* and tell them that you JUST got this peice of mail and try to see if they would activate it, depending on what it was advertising.

Mass mailings and their delivery time are affected by any one of many factors, among them being when each batch is prepared and dropped off for mailing--not all are done at the same time--as well as the USPS's processing of them. Because they're categorized differently from First Class, they're processed differently, and much more slowly. It can often take several weeks for such mailings to arrive at their intended destinations; whereas First Class delivery would take 2-3 days for the most part.

Sometimes places use different carriers depending on how close to a service center you are. I have even seen the post office use DHL to ship some stuff.
