I just got hold of another 6 ft dish it was mounted on the support shown below. Notice the discoloration to the grey paint where welds have been made to stop the elevation and azimuth being changed. Does anyone recognise this mount. Assuming I can grind away the welds would it be possible to motorise this mount ?
Thanks for any help

Could you post a closer pic? It seems to have once been a polar mount (note that it seems to have the bar for an actuator), and was possibly altered...

Here is an enlarged different view. I dont quite understand the two adjustable threaded rods. They both seem to affect the elevation of the dish

Declination & elevation ??

But what would be the point of that for a fixed dish. Thats why I thought this mount might take a motor/actuator . Am I going nuts ?

thanks for better picture:

It IS a polar mount, just as you surmised.
The upper screw adjustment is for declination, and the lower screw is for elevation, just as guapoharry mentioned above.
Click on the little photo of the polar mount on Sadoun's site here to see how a typical mount is built.
In that case, the declination screw adjuster is at the bottom, not the top, but that's not a significant matter.
With a motor and a few brackets or other hardware, you should be able to get yours going again. - :up

I just took a couple of pics of the polar mount on my Perfect 10 10 footer, maybe these will help you visualize what you have there.

As others have said your declination adjuster is on the top, whereas mine is on the bottom.

edit: Hey, did I get in here too late for the beers!?!?!?! ;)

Oh, yea... Phlatwound's pix are very clear and to the point! - :up
But, that basic geometry is pretty similar on most mounts.

You're probably well beyond needing the Geo-orbit site, but I bring it up as additional reference material.
. . . and of course, their must-read declination page.

Somehow, I don't think he delivers. -
But, I'll bet if we all sauntered up to his door wearing SatGuy's T-shirts , he'd pour us some cold ones!! - :D

I just got through sanding and painting that exact model of polar mount, it is used with my 7.5' Perfect 10, which will be the next BUD to go up :) ...
